  2. How do you all feel about registering communities as a legal business? In my country, an LLC or similar would be the most likely registration form. Limited Liability Company - which can help protect your personal assets in the event that someone wants to sue your forum for whatever reason. Do you think it is necessary? Why or why not?
  3. I recently got the flu. I haven't had the flu in a long time and although I'm physically fit and active and pretty healthy, it has taken a toll on me. I pretty much went dark on all my ventures including my main Brand which usually gets my attention throughout most of the day. But the flu like I said, really has done me in.   10. I started with MyBB and i am using MyBB for my current project. I bought few software licenses and i sold it and i am back to MyBB. The development and involvement of MyBB has gone down and many skip free forum software over paid software and it will surely bring death to few of the free forum software.

  13. I started with SMF so I will always have a deep affinity and respect for that community. They were great, but the reason why I eventually "went premium" is precisely what you you said -- it took them forever to update. I know they're a volunteer community but the interest and passion is no longer there. This tracks with the broader forum market: it's going up the value chain to premium and enterprise platforms. Why start a new SMF forum with all the hassles and problems of hosting when you can open a new Discord channel or Facebook group? They've been cannibalized by social media platforms.

  15. What I mean by this is http and not https. SSL encryption. When I register a new domain, I automatically add SSL to it using Let's Encrypt as it has proved to be a quite handy took these days. How do you all feel about it? Do you think forums can only be trusted by the masses if security certificates are enabled?
  16. I've been watching some of the popular free forum software platforms that I used to frequently use. PhpBB... MyBB... Simple Machines... It seems like most of them are dormant with update activity, not even bug fixes. That always troubles me because most software regularly requires updates. There are always vulnerabilities and bugs to be found. The free software out there can't be that secure and error-less...can they? What are your thoughts on this?

Because of how harder it is to run a successful message forum in the social world, integrating psychology into forum management might be the way to the winning ticket. Look at sales, ads and business marketing - the marketer will speak a certain way to the target customer in hopes to sway that customer into purchasing the product or service being marketed.   18. There's a lot of angst over the future of forums, but there will always be an enduring power of discussions, sharing, and learning among a group with similar interests. A lot of forums in the social, general, and lifestyle niches have slowly declined. What's your community strategy to grow? Are you building a content hub with best-in-class resources, tutorials, and knowledge base? Are you a brand or organization with an existing audience that you seek to serve?

I work in the QA management sector and on my days off, you can find me in the National Forest and state parks hiking, biking, geocaching and pretty much most forms out outdoor rec! I’m into it so much that I’ve created a YouTube for it and have made a name for myself locally. ive been into message forum management for many years, since the 90s. I even remember the old dialup BBS systems and of course the Usenet alt discussion boards. ive ran many forums including a big board with over a million posts....
